4th Annual Plantapolooza

Sunken Gardens is proud to host the fourth annual Plantapolooza, a local botanical event dedicated to Florida native plants.

Originated by The Community Wildlife Corridor, this event seeks to connect the wildlife populations in our largest parks with backyard native gardens. Join us as we celebrate the importance and beauty of Florida’s native plants!

  • Take home free native seedlings (while supplies last!)
  • Browse unique native plants & more for sale by Tampa Bay area vendors
  • Learn from local organizations who are working hard to protect Florida’s plants & pollinators
  • Attend themed lectures by native plant experts
  • Enjoy youth activities

 

Themed lectures:

1 pm - "Native Plants for Florida Gardens" — Stacey Matrazzo (Co-author of Native Plants for Florida Gardens, Executive Director of the Florida Wildflower Foundation)

2 pm - "Living Shorelines for Florida: Building Coastal Resilience" — Marjorie Shropshire (Renowned author of native landscape design books, editor of the Florida Native Plant Society's official magazine Palmetto)

3 pm - "How to Plant and Maintain Native Landscapes" — The Wise Hands (Native Plant Landscaping Services and Nursery)

  • Plantapolooza is free with Gardens admission or membership.
  • We encourage guests to bring boxes, carts, or wagons along with your own bags to carry out your plant haul.
  • NOTE: We will not be processing new memberships during this special event. This helps us expedite admissions in a timely manner. We appreciate your understanding.
  • ***Parking is extremely limited due to our shared parking lot. We encourage guests to carpool, ride share, bike, or walk to this special event. Additional parking at Crescent Lake Park - 22nd Avenue and 5th Street N***
